Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, or related healthcare field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in healthcare risk management, patient safety, quality, or clinical leadership preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
- CPHRM (Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management).
- CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality).
- RN license, if applicable.
Primary Duties:
Risk Management:
-
- Develops, & updates policies related to risk management, patient safety, patient rights, and loss prevention
- Coordinates the investigation and documentation of liability claims
- Maintains confidential claim files
- Leads Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
- Reviews incident reports, claims, grievances, and patient safety data
Patient Safety:
- Promotes a culture of patient safety
- Evaluates safety events and implement lasting improvements.
- Develops and provides education on patient safety
- Monitors adverse events, near misses, and safety trends
- Tracks the implementation and effectiveness of corrective action plans
Patient Relations:
- Oversees investigation and resolution of patient complaints, grievances, and patient rights concerns.
- Oversees the organization’s electronic occurrence/event reporting system
Corporate Compliance:
- Supports & Manages the Corporate Compliance Program
- Conducts investigations involving Code of Conduct violations, policy breaches, conflicts of interest, fraud, waste, abuse, and other compliance issues.
- Prepares reports on hotline activity, compliance trends, and investigation outcomes
- Supports the Corporate Compliance Committee by preparing meeting materials, tracking action items, and reporting compliance activities and trends.
Leadership:
- Partners with departmental leaders to identify and reduce organizational risk.
- Prepares and presents risk management reports to leadership and the Governing Board.
- Coordinates confidential physician peer review activities
- Serves as a resource on patient safety, risk management, and patient relations.
- Leads or participates in multidisciplinary patient safety and risk reduction committees.
- Coordinates cross-functional investigations of significant patient safety events.
