NURSE PRACTITIONER:
Woodlawn Health has an opening for a full-time Nurse Practitioner for Woodlawn Medical Professionals in Rochester, IN. Educational Requirements:
Currently licensed in the state of Indiana as an RN. Maintains this licensure and provides Human Resources with any licensure renewals or changes. Must hold self and others accountable for the delivery of quality patient care. Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program and maintain any required certification. Approximately two years of clinical experience in family practice medicine is preferred.
Primary Duties
Patient Care
Assess and provide treatment and medically manage wellness or common illness and injuries, complying with written medical protocols and procedures. Perform historical documentation and physical examination. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies to treat the patient. Demonstrate awareness of emergency situations and perform duties appropriately.
Medication Management
Furnish/prescribe medications based upon the patient assessment and per protocols. Initiate drug therapy for chronic and episodic disorders, including complications of otherwise normal processes. Ensure that patients are counseled regarding treatment plans and medications’ use, dosage, and possible side effects.
Scope of Practice
Cooperates with Collaborating Physician when necessary. Assures referral to appropriate providers when patients require subspecialty medical attention beyond the area’s scope of service or the NP’s scope of care. Demonstrate a high degree of skill and accuracy in all clinical activities. Complies with medical staff rules and regulations. Serves as a patient advocate. Maintains required State continuing education requirements.
Documentation/Communication
Utilizes computer documentation system appropriately. Document the patient’s visit in the medical record, in problem-oriented format and by Hospital policy, and any Federal and State Standards. Communicates professionally, consistently, and effectively with all team members to ensure coordination and prioritization of patient care duties and responsibilities. Willingness to learn and work in an autonomous, flexible, agile work environment.
