Woodlawn is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Rochester Orthopedics Team!  This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with some weekend call (varies).  Great benefits including 403(b) with company match & more!

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently licensed in the state of Indiana as an RN or Physician Assistant.
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program or accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
  • Must hold self and others accountable for delivery of quality patient care.
  • Approximately two years of clinical experience in the Orthopedics is strongly preferred.
  • Must possess & maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Possess and demonstrate good communication and customer service skills and pleasant phone technique.
  • Possess a desire and capability for educating staff, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in a multi-task environment where interruptions may be frequent. Must be able to assess and command emergency situations and readily adapt to change.
  • Willingness to collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, or other medical professionals.
  • Supports this institution by following policies and procedures as set forth, participating in hospital activities, promoting good public relations, and demonstrating loyalty and pride in Woodlawn Hospital.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Patient Care: Assess and provide treatment and medically manage wellness or common illness and injuries complying with written medical protocols and procedures. Perform historical documentation and physical examination. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies to treat the patient. Demonstrate awareness of emergency situations and can perform duties appropriately.
  • Medication Management: Furnish/prescribe medications based upon the patient assessment and per protocols. Initiate drug therapy for both chronic and episodic disorders including complications of otherwise normal processes. Ensure that patients are counseled regarding treatment plans and the use, dosage and possible side effects of medications.
  • Scope of Practice: Cooperates with Collaborating Physician when necessary. Assures referral to appropriate providers when patients require subspecialty medical attention beyond the area’s scope of service or the NP scope of care. Demonstrate a high degree of skill and accuracy in all clinical activities. Complies with medical staff rules and regulations. Serves as a patient advocate. Maintains required State continuing education requirements.
  • Documentation/Communication: Utilizes computer documentation system appropriately. Document the patient’s visit in the medical record, in problem-oriented format and in accordance with Hospital policy, and any Federal and State Standards. Communicates professionally, consistently, and effectively with all team members to ensure coordination and prioritization of patient care duties and responsibilities. Willingness to learn and work in an autonomous, flexible, agile work environment.
