Join the Woodlawn Team as an OB Nurse on a PRN Basis!
Woodlawn Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Obstetrics Department, PRN on Night Shift.
This role involves providing compassionate, high-quality care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare staff to ensure a safe and supportive experience for patients and their families.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current licensed in the state of Indiana as an RN – Registered Nurse.
- You need prior OB experience to qualify for OB PRN positions.
- Furthermore, experience in fetal monitoring and in caring for the obstetrical and newborn patient is required.
- Specifically for a position as a Post-Partum and Nursery nurse, experience in caring for the obstetrical and newborn patient is desired.
- Must possess Basic Life Support certification or obtain prior to providing direct patient care. Maintains BLS certification per hospital policy.
- You must obtain your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications within one year of hire.
- Additionally, sugar and safe care, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support (S.T.A.B.L.E.) certification is required by the State of Indiana.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as defined by hospital policy.
- Ability to adapt to variations in scheduling (including but not limited to overtime, work schedule changes or low census).
- Basic computer and keyboard skills and demonstrate the ability to learn new skills in this area.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Assess assigned patients for overall conditions and needs, coordinates and gives care appropriately. Including treatments, all medications, initiates and maintains IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, etc.
- Initiates and modifies care plans and goals, as well as initiates discharge planning.
- Prescribes appropriate nursing actions in order to meet the goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient.
- Assist physicians as needed, transcribe and then implement physician’s orders appropriately and accurately.
- Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patient by other nursing team members.
- Communicates professionally, consistently, and effectively with all team members to ensure coordination and prioritization of patient care duties and responsibilities.
- Report to the physician or appropriate person any pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients and record these accurately in the medical record.
- Coordinate patient care with other team members and assigns duties in accordance with patient’s needs and the personnel’s capabilities and qualifications.
- Willingness to learn and work in a self-directed, flexible, agile team approach
- Performs assessments, interprets data, and delivers all nursing care with an age-appropriate focus.
- Facilitates an efficient and accurate admission and disposition process. Such as assisting with initial interview collection (includes items such as patient history, VS, height, weight, allergies, screening information), transfer of patients both within the hospital and to other facilities, and discharges.
PRN; Nights; At least 1 holiday per year
