Universal Care Unit
The Universal Care Unit nursing staff provides compassionate and individualized attention to all patients who are hospitalized for illness, surgery, testing, or observation. A team of Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), work with physicians to ensure that patients receive the care they need for a speedy recovery.
Woodlawn is proud to be able to provide personalized and individualized nursing care. Our nurse to patient ratio averages one nurse for every 4 patients. The unit is furnished with only private rooms with private bathrooms.
Advanced technology is an integral part of every inpatient stay at Woodlawn. Mobile computers allow easy access to the patient’s electronic record for documentation, obtaining test results, ordering tests, receiving physician orders, and much more. Bar code scanners are used at the bedside to scan the identification bracelet and medications as an added safety feature to ensure accuracy.
The Universal Care Unit accommodates patients of all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics. Post-operative nursing care is provided for patients following abdominal surgery such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal), hysterectomy, colon surgery, hernia surgery and more. Orthopedic post-operative nursing care is provided such as repair of hip fracture, total hip or knee replacement, shoulder surgery, and more. Medical care and support is provided for many different medical conditions such as dehydration, pneumonia, cellulitis, diabetic complications and more.
