Woodlawn Volunteer Program
Woodlawn Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers
For more than 65 years, the Woodlawn Hospital Auxiliary has played an active role in the growth of hospital services by supporting new and innovative ways of delivering care to Fulton County and surrounding areas. In 1956, the Auxiliary sponsored the Gray Ladies to provide daily service to patients and hospital staff. Now, volunteers come from all walks and stages of life: homemakers, professionals, retirees and students age 16 years and up. They vary in age, background, personality, interests and skills. Some volunteer services include:
operating the Gift Shop to benefit visitors and staff;
greeting patients and visitors upon arrival;
directing and escorting visitors to their destinations within the hospital;
delivering flower arrangements and gifts to patients and staff;
decorating the lobby with flower arrangements and seasonal decorations;
providing magazines, books, and other items to patients; and
assisting the staff as needed in department areas.
As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to develop new interests, share valuable skills and life experiences to help others, make new friends with similar values and interests, and most importantly, gain personal satisfaction by giving something special back to your community as a valued member of Woodlawn Hospital.

Woodlawn Home Meal Program Volunteer Drivers
Volunteers are the hearts and hands of the Woodlawn Home Meal Program at Woodlawn Hospital. They generously provide delivery of nourishing meals to about 20 elderly and homebound individuals in the Rochester area. Each volunteer driver receives a free meal voucher for a meal at the Woodlawn Hospital Cafeteria as well as mileage reimbursement if requested. Volunteer drivers deliver much more than hot nutritious food. For homebound individuals, their visits mean contact with the outside world. Consider some real nourishment at your next lunch hour. Volunteer for the Woodlawn Home Meal Program and enjoy a lunch thats good for your heart. For more information on the Woodlawn Home Meal Program, please contact the Woodlawn Hospital Food Service Department at (574) 224-1188.
Pastoral Care Volunteers
A patient’s hospital experience can be very unnerving. Woodlawn Hospital is sensitive to the medical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their family, as well as the needs of the staff. Our Chaplain is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to offer spiritual support to persons of all religious backgrounds. Local clergy and/or church representatives may volunteer as Chaplains during weeknights and weekends, and in a variety of other capacities. For more information about our pastoral care services or to volunteer as a hospital Chaplain, please contact the Woodlawn Hospital Pastoral Care Department at (574) 224-2242 or send an email.
